PTE Academic

PTE Academic is a computer-based test designed to test your English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The test takes approximately three hours to complete. This includes an un-timed introduction to the test and one optional scheduled break of up to 10 minutes.

There are three timed parts:
Part 1: Speaking and Writing
Part 2: Reading
Part 3: Listening
Each part may contain a number of sections. Each section is individually timed.

Writing: A 60-minute test that requires you to complete two tasks:
Task 1: You are presented with a graph, table, chart, diagram, or letter and asked to describe, summarize or explain the information in your own words.
Task 2: You are given a point of view, argument, or problem, and you need to write an essay discussing the issue, providing arguments, and supporting your ideas with examples.

PTE Core

PTE Core is a computer-based English language test designed to assess your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills for real-life and immigration purposes, especially for Canada (IRCC). The test takes approximately 2 hours to complete and is conducted in a single sitting with no scheduled break.

The test is divided into three timed parts:
Part 1: Speaking & Writing, Part 2: Reading, and Part 3: Listening. Each part contains several task types, and every task is individually timed.

Speaking & Writing is a combined section where candidates complete multiple practical tasks. These include reading aloud, repeating sentences, describing images, responding to everyday situations, summarizing written text, and writing an email based on a given situation. The focus is on clear communication, correct grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency rather than long essays.
